Lesson Excerpt: Next up is a riff that utilizes only the 3rd and 7th degrees of each chord. With a busy rhythm section underneath this can be enough to deliver the harmonies while maintaining a dry, percussive feel. Note that this example uses a lot more space, as well as a few slides and hammer-ons to mix things up. I do add a few random dead notes depending on my mood. Feel free to experiment!
