I think I’ve asked about having a mobile version of the site before. I don’t know if there it’s an option already and I’m just unaware of it. I have flash capability on my android phone and it can easily handle the resolution of the video. The problem I have is that being hi-res means more data to stream and it takes forever to buffer on my phone. Is there any chance, if not a mobile version of the whole site, at least an option for setting the video resolution much lower? If the option is already available then just point me in the right direction please.
At the moment we only have a single resolution for each video. And while we’ve worked to make our videos playable on most mobile devices, we don’t have any current plans to create a mobile version of the site. That could certainly change in the future though.
Regarding the video playback, can you try turning Flash off on your device when viewing the videos? If Flash is off it should fallback to html5, which might run smoother for you. Not sure if it would help the buffering issue you’re seeing but it’s worth a shot.
If you ever do make a mobile version of the site, make a big deal of it on the front page. I don’t have a computer anymore and a smartphone is a great practice tool too which I can carry anywhere. Changing between Flash and html5 isn’t ideal but at least I can use the site more.
