    Hello All, 🙂

fusionexperiment, (Brandon) an excellent rock/shred/fusion-player who had just introduced himself to us here at Infinite Guitar the other day, had asked me to send him a copy of the Tom Quayle transcription I completed in November, 2009. This transcription (for those who never saw it) is a one-minute-and-twenty-four-second segment of the improvisation Tom posted on YouTube of him trying out his (then) new Suhr Standard Custom guitar. 😎

Anyways, I figured I’d re-post that original thread for Brandon, (since currently having difficulty with his website!) and for anyone else who might be interested: 😉

BTW, I did double-check to make sure that my file-hosting hyperlink still worked, so no worries there! 😉

    Hello All,

It’s official (hopefully!) The long-awaited (sorry about that!) Tom Quayle Suhr Standard Custom Guitar Inprovisation/Solo Transcription and Analysis is FINISHED!!!

    Here’s the lowdown:

In a nutshell, I used a compressed Winzip file (TQ_BM_Transcription.zip) which contains the ten (12) related files in total which are related to this project:

    – Rhythm/Accompaniment Transcription in Finale (.mus) and Adobe (.pdf) formats = 2 files

    – Solo/Improv Transcription (Standard Tuning) in Finale (.mus) and Adobe (.pdf) formats = 2 files

    – Solo/Improv Transcription (Fourths Tuning) in Finale (.mus) and Adobe (.pdf) formats = 2 files

    – Rhythm/Accompaniment Transcription’s MIDI Playback in (.mp3) and (.wav) = 2 files

    – Solo/Improv Transcription’s MIDI Playback in (.mp3) and (.wav) = 2 files

    – Theory/Analysis of Improv relative to Accompaniment in Microsoft Word (.doc) = 1 file

    – A READ_ME_FIRST file explaining what-to-do and the zip-file’s contents (.txt) = 1 file

To access and download the zip-file (and subsequently the aforementioned twelve (12) related-files) to view/read the transcription and the accompanying analysis-notes, simply paste the following link into your address-bar:

    http://www.mediafire.com/file/hyumyl…nscription.zip

NOTE: Once you’ve been successfully re-directed to the filehosting website, you’ll be prompted to “Click Here to START DOWNLOAD” in a “click-icon-box” just below (and to the right a little) of a large-font printout of the zip-file (TQ_BM_Transcription.zip) near the top of the screen.

Once you’ve successfully downloaded the zip-file (TQ_BM_Transcription.zip), extract the twelve (12) files into a folder you’ll be comfortable working in/from, (I’d suggest starting with a new/empty folder) and then (first) read the file titled: IG_READ_ME_FIRST.txt. After reading that, you’ll have an idea what your options are, and then you can view/read whichever files meet your needs.

Best of luck with the download guys and ENJOY!!!

Also, feel free to give me your feedback/opinions!!!

    ~Bill Meehan~

I’d be quite eager to have a look at your analysis of Tom’s work. But, your link isn’t working for me.

    Hey Ryan, 🙂

Yes, I now know that my link IS NOT working…(Damnit!) Sorry about that! 😮

If you’re interested, I can e-mail you the zip-file which has ALL of the necessary associated files pertinent to the transcription. I’ve just recently (yesterday) succesfully e-mailed (actually it was g-mail/Google-mail!) the zip-file to another interested Infinite Guitar member, and I have NO PROBLEM sending anyone who’s a fan of Tom Quayle’s a copy of my work! Tom has personally given me his blessing to furnish my transcription to ANYONE interested! (I felt strongly about getting Tom’s approval before I made ANY of this stuff public, since I have SO MUCH respect and admiration for Tom’s work as a recording-artist AND as a top-flight guitar-instructor as well! (He also happens to be a SUPER NICE PERSON too, BTW!) I was very pleased to receive Tom’s praise & approval, especially considering how much work/time/effort went into this transcription and analysis – LOL! 😉

As I said, just provide me your e-mail address, if your interested in having me e-mail you the zip-file, which once extracted, contains twelve (12) files associated with this transcription! NOTE: Be sure to read the extracted file called: READ_ME_FIRST.TXT This “read-me” file will give you the chronological-procedure as to what YOU’LL need to do to specifically meet your needs. (BTW, If you’re concerned about privacy, you can always use Private Message here at Infinite Guitar to keep from publicizing your e-mail address. That’s up to you. Either way, just let me know what your intentions are by replying to this current thread: (Tom Quayle Transcription – Re-visited!!!) here in the IG-Forums.

Best of luck, and I hope that you receive as much enjoyment USING it as I did MAKING it! 😎 😉

Also, once you’ve successfully extracted all (12) of the pertinent/related-files, feel free to contact me if you have any questions or any comments in general. 😉

    Hi DeepRoots! 🙂

Wow, thanks so much for taking the time and initiative to filehost the the TQ-transcription zip! That’s great. I wanted to solve those crummy filehosting issues I kept running into, but I wasn’t sure if there was still a demand? That said though, you did the correct thing in terms of efficiency, even if just a few more people take advantage of it. 😉

( I suppose it would make sense for me to go ahead and paste your link into a revised copy of my previous thread. That way, the link will be more far-reaching just in case people miss your particular thread/reply, OK?) 😉

So you’ve gotten a lot of enjoyment out of the transcription you say? That’s GREAT to hear. Hearing things like that is very gratifying for me. As you probably know, that Tom Quayle transcription/analysis project was a “labor-of-love.” 😎 Since I wasn’t getting paid (monetarily that is!) to do it, I viewed as a way to:

1.) Learn a bunch about Tom’s improvisational style, techniques, and tendencies.
2.) Learn how to use the music-notation software called: Finale.
3.) Share my work with countless others who love Tom’s playing! (Paying it forward!)

So far, it appears that I’ve been fortunate enough to have achieved most of these goals! (Of course, I’m only about 3% closer to being able to play ANYTHING that resembles Tom’s playing/music – LOL!) 😮

Thanks again for taking care of that link for me! 😎

    Hello All! 🙂

I’ve gotten some recent requests regarding that Tom Quayle transcription I completed back in November, 2009. Here is a re-post of an earlier thread/message:

This is a description of how to get a hold of all the files associated with the Tom Quayle Transcription. This transcription represents a one-minute-and-twenty-four-second segment of the improvisation Tom posted on YouTube of him trying out his (then) new Suhr Standard Custom guitar. 😎

I would suggest getting VERY familiar with this improvisation/solo by checking out the YouTube video (whose URL/link is shown directly below.) BTW, the transcription is of the segment from (2:10) to (3:34):

    Hi DiezelRiggs, 🙂

BTW, do you own a Diezel amp? Just curious! I play in a Tool tribute-band, (ToolFist) but I can’t afford (atleast not yet!) a Diezel…Awesome amps! 😎

If you wanna P.M. me a valid e-mail address (you could use InfiniteGuitar’s Private Message program here to contact me!), perhaps I could attach a zip-file with all the contents of the transcription (There are several files as you’ll see.) I’d be glad to do that for you, and that might be the easiest way to get that to you?!? 😉

    Sup Bill!

You know, I honestly wish I did. I am actually about to invest in an engl special edition el34 setup. I am an engl freak! Over the years I just keep coming back to german equipment.

The nickname was something given to me along time ago from my friends because of my last name being Riggs. They always thought of like a big machine or oil rig so the diezel part came shortly after.

I can certaintly private message you an e-mail. I got to tell ya Bill, I really appreciate this, more then you know. Also, if it’s not any trouble, would you happen to have the tabs for the tom quayles silly arpeggios? I have been begging for those like a mad man and posting in all kinds of forums for it and I got nothing. :(.

Email will be in your inbox. I owe you one.

    -Diezel.

    Hey Bill,

I’ve been really into Toms playing lately, and would love to see the observations you’ve made on his playing. If you or anyone would be kind enough to revive the links to your zip file, it would be greatly appreciated!

    Thanks,

    Mike

I would also love for you to possibly email me the transcription! I PMd you!
