i already posted a thread on “your playing”, but i thought i should also properly introduce myself here…

i`m andrés ludmer from rosario, argentina. i’m 27 years old.

i’ve been playing since i was 16. first i was a metal head(pantera, sepultura), then i was a shred head (jason becker mainly), then progressive head (D.T., symphony x)…
at some time when i was 22 or 23 i realized that even i was going to music college(classical guitar focused) i didn’t really know s*** about theory, or how to improvise even a 3 chord blues properly. so, i kinda quitted honing the technique, and dedicated myself to lear some jazz improv, harmony, the notes on the freatboard by memory, started listening to A.H., greg howe, brett garsed, birelli lagrene, wayne krantz, metheny, scofield, coltrane, parker and all those great guys…

oh, maybe i should mention that when i finished highschool i started to study industrial engineering and i was doing fine, but when i reach the 3rd year i started to think that wasn’t for me, that i love music and guitar, so i quitted and started music university next year. i got my dregree on 2006.

a few years ago i discovered guthrie govan, and since then, i’ve been trying to recover my dead right hand(alternate picking), because i was legato/sweep/economy after focusing on the theory and stuff hehe…also trying to be as versatile as posibly and open minded towards all music.

now i’m just a music head, love all types of music. i teach guitar for a living, private lessons and at a music scholl here in rosario. i play in different bands, some of then i like, some of then pay me.

last year i went to europe for 3 months with a bandoneonist friend to play argentinian tango… that was a life experience. really cool, though i was hoping to catch up maybe holdsworth live, or messhugah, freak kitchen, and some others while i was there but no luck! i had the ticket for a bireli lagrene concert in switzerland but it was cancelled! dammm hehe.

well, i hope i didn’t bore you to death with my story.

Andres, that was seriously cool to read about your background man. I think it’s always neat to see the phases musicians go through as their styles, interests, and priorities change.

Anyway, you’re a killer player bro and it’s great to have you here!
