So I’m thinking of becoming a paying member. Some area’s I’m strong in, others not so much. Only recently becoming physically able to navigate around the fretboard. I’d say theory wise I’m almost to the advanced level. Getting the theory under my fingers I’m intermediate. Playing tunes, jamming… well, I suck! (What’s below beginner?) Am I just left to search around for which lesson’s to pursue? Do I get feedback? Ten bucks a month is pretty cheap but the main reason I’d join this site is to get some sort of direction/plan of attack.

    Yo Darren!

We have a boatload of song tutorials (in all skill levels) that should help you get accustomed to playing tunes. And there are many improvising lessons that will help you get started with jamming as well. As far as feedback you’d always be welcome to post in the forum and we’ll do our best to help you along the way.

How long have you been playing? You say you’re at an advanced level with theory, what’s your background?

    Take care man!
    Sean

PS. IG does offer that 3-day money back guarantee too, so you can always try it out with no risk.

Hi DarrenC from Seattle. I understand the physical bit – I had to change picking hands after severing two tendons on my left hand – so I switched to playing southpaw – Real drag ! I knew what to play in my head but it was all upside down and my hands would not simply do what I wanted. The result is that my picking hand is smaller and much weaker than my fretting hand. Still, I stuck at it and I’m slowly getting up to snail speed. The point is – what do you want to play and learn ? For me, I sing and play mostly rhythm guitar in a four piece band – all our own stuff. The reason I’m signed up here is to ge the best advice and tips I can from the ace players. I really like the tutorials on rhythmic displacement and new ways of looking at playing the guitar. I live in France which is more or less a musical desert, so the guys here are real refreshing – I REALLy like the ‘djent’ and ‘metal’ lessons even if I can’t see myself singing over that sort of background – I want to keep my tonsils. But what do you like playing ? That’s the main thing. To my mind the 10$ is well worth it, so welcome aboard. PhilC (STRINGLESS).
