    Hey all,

Just wondering what everyone’s favorite guitar solo is. Doesn’t have to be
rock, could be any style of music.

Mine is Buckethead’s solo on Nottingham Lace.

    Thanks.

Actually, the Steve Vai solo I wanted was from the song “I Would Love To”

    My bad… I’ve got a bit of a hangover…:o

I really only have one solo I cannot get enough of: Dream Theater – Home. Both the keyboard and guitar solos are wonderfully elusive and alluring. Simply wonderful.

James Labrie – Pretender (Marco Sfogli)

Infact all of his solos are pretty stunning and fit really well on the album he did. I’ll have to agree with Sean too. Lines in the sand solo is amazing especially when he alters it on his live performances…keeping things fresh šŸ™‚

Interesting. Here’s a few of mine:

Midnight at the Oasis solo by Amos Garret, regarded by many as one of the best, most melodic guitar solos ever
Kid Charlemain solo by Larry Carlton
Hocus Pocus guitar work by Jan Akkerman, vicious!
Rosanna guitar work by Steve Lukather
Marbles solo by Carlos Santana on the Carlos and Buddy Miles Live album, truly an emotional onslaught

    Hey Frank, šŸ™‚

I see we share a few of the same faves! Cool! I forgot about how cool “Midnight At The Oasis” is (Maria Muldaur on vocals – correct? I could be wrong, but I heard she was from my home state of Massachusetts? Not sure though…) šŸ˜‰

    Hi Bill,

Right on regarding Maria Muldaur. Wasn’t that solo something? Just beautiful. I figured I’d throw in some of my old favorites. I have certainly left out many more. I really couldn’t pin one single solo down. Alot of Eddie’s guitar stuff sent chills down my spine. But, now that I think of it, I’d probably have to say that Carlos’ solo on Marbles is the one. I always get goosebumps when I hear it, even after all these years. Carlos was really on his game that night.
