Anyone heard of Ethan Brosh?

Ethan is my guitar teacher!!! Although I do not take lessons with him regularly anymore (I still do occasionally, but money’s very tight these days…:( ) Ethan has helped me a lot, especially with my picking technique (which was the primary topic of most of our lessons.) Anyways, he ended up teaching me some other really cool “80’s-shred” type techniques as well, like tapping ideas (a la Greg Howe) arepeggio ideas (a la Yngwie) and some legato ideas (a la Greg Howe and George Lynch.) 😉

BTW, you were very accurate in your description of Ethan also being a super-nice person as well! He strikes a perfect-balance of playing with a ton of confidence, but still remaining humble when he’s not playing! He comes from a very nice family, and I would credit his parents for raising him properly (something that is sorely lacking from much of today’s “parenting-skills…” but DON’T get me started – LOL!) 😀

Eric you also accurately portrayed Ethan as an unabashed “80’s-Shrapnel-type-shredder.” Belive me, that is NOT an insult to him. He wears that badge with honor and a commitment to excellence that he believes is sorely lacking in todays music in general (…but don’t get HIM started!!!…LOL!) 😉 Interestingly, Ethan also really digs a lot of the 80’s “song-oriented” bands as well. In fact, his favorite band of all-time is unquestionably Iron Maiden! I think it’s Ethan’s love of 80’s song-form and melody that really has helped him develop an ear for always knowing what to play at all times. It’s like he’s obviously a “busy-player,” (after all, he’s playing instrumentals on his album!) but he seems to have a keen sense of melody, phrasing, and song-form too – AWESOME! 😉

As you said Eric, Ethan does like the old ADA MP-1 pre-amps, but he also uses some other amps and gear to get his tone. However, the key to Ethan’s tone (and everyone else’s in IMO!!!) is in his HANDS! Ethan has great feel, vibrato, bending ideas and technique to go along with his formidable-chops! 😎

So there you have it folks! Ethan Brosh. Remember that name if you’re a fan of “80’s Shrapnel-label-type-shredding!” Check him out! 😉

P.S. If you have a few minutes, go check out his yournger sister Nili Brosh! She is amazing and getting better all the time! There’s footage of her playing “Wonderful Slippery Thing” WITH Guthrie Govan (and Berklee Instructor and awesome player in his own right – Jon Finn!) at a club just outside of Boston, MA last year I believe?!?

As you’d probably expect, Nili too has an AWESOME personality to go along with her stunning abilities on guitar! Sometimes she sits in with Ethan’s instrumental band and helps him cover guitar-parts from his album live. THAT is an awesome thing to see live!!!
