Well. If you’ve written a riff in your head, played it on your guitar, and now that rythmics of it, then you just open up your program, add whatever instruments you want (in default it has a 6 string guitar). That’s done by selecting “add track”. Then you just choose the note value of the first note you want to write, and start typing as you probably would in notebook. It’s all a matter of just fooling around with it, then you’ll get the hang of it. It’s user friendly (to a certain degree).
Still not familiar enough with it to give you tips but I can say that so far it’s the best tab software I’ve used.
I have finale guitar but it is nowhere near as good in terms of ease of use. I used to use powertab but I prefer GuitarPro.

from pinching, up/down strokes, any speed any note, dives, bends, any technique..
just look at the tools that are in front of you above the notes page, and under it..
also you can use the menu, and I’m pretty sure there are tones of manuals out there…
To be able to tab a fast gallop- you’d need to know the rhthym of the gallop, inserting the note durations exactly. This will take a little bit of music thoery and understanding note durations. Then you’ll have to sit and analyse your gallop to see what rhythmic notation it uses- theres no easy answer for you here- as there alot of different types of gallops that can use triplets, 16th notes, 16th note displacement or a mixture of the lot.
If you know note values and understand the rythm you made you can easily write it down on Guitar Pro.
If you mean like a classic Iron Maiden style gallop it would be like 2 16th notes and one 8th note in every beat. If you don’t know note durations I advice you to learn them as soon as possible. It will help you greatly in both writing, reading and understanding music. And it’s not hard to learn.
I dont really know them, i just play what sounds good to me, but i see what youre saying.. I need to mess around with it some more.. What about changing the tuning on there to a drop d?
Looks like im slowly figuring this out… i just copy and paste the parts i wanna repeat, only problem is when there are extra notes in the part i wanna copy… It doesnt copy the blue part i highlight, it copys the whole frame… Is there any way around that and just copy the highlighted parts?
