I thought we should have this thread already.. and we don’t. So I’ll do it..
Anyway, Im pretty sure you all have heard about this service, unless you live on mars or something.. so for you aliens I will explain:
Last.fm is a social music community that has started in 2001 (I think) and since then became very popular among people all over the world.
Like I said, its a social community like myspace where you make friends and join groups, but here those are based on your musical taste. You sign up and create your profile, download the application (“the scrobbler”) to your computer and start listening to your music as you always do.
The scrobbler will update your profile on the website and will slowly develop your listening statistics.
Very soon it will start telling you about similar artists and people with similar musical taste. You’ll get to know so many people and artists, it is just amazing! You can even create your radio station that anyone can listen to, or listen to others’ stations too.
Another thing you can do is to type an artist name, and the application will tune in to a radio station in similar genre, so this is the easiest way to get to know new bands.
