    Hi guys,

I am pleased to announce the imminent acquisition of a Mesa Boogie Mark 5. I just can’t wait any longer. Do I need it? No. But then, I consider it a worthwhile investment in tone and inspiration. I’ve researched the particulars, and I have played through one at Guitar Center.

It will look pretty sitting next to my TSL 100 half stack. I am going to buy a Roadster 2X12 v30 cab to go with it. I am out of my mind. Music, and guitar playing in particular, have a way of igniting my passion to the point of ignoring something like logic, lol. I’ll have to order one, as they are selling like hotcakes. Somebody please help me, lol.

All kidding aside, I look forward to playing through this tone machine. I’ll keep you posted.

    Frank

Damnit I’m jealous! The Mark 5 is my dream amp (along with a vintage Plexi of course). Enjoy it, make sure you give us your verdict. Are you going to be using it at home or live?

    Hi Angus,

I will be using it at home until I can get something together as far as getting back out and playing live again. I haven’t played through a cranked amp in so long, I can’t remember how good one sounds with the power tubes being pushed.

My TSL 100 half stack has been with me for years, and has never been cranked. I am assuming it sounds good, lol. I am hoarding gear because I want to have what I need to get back out there, and because I am a gear hoarder, lol.

I am sure that there are alot of us who derive a certain amount of inspiration out of a new piece of gear, that helps push us to a new level, musically. I am one of them. I will never have enough amps and guitars, lol…never. I will continue to add to my “inventory” as my paycheck dictates. That is my only limitation. šŸ™‚

MKV sounds fantastic, even at a whispering volume. You’re not missing out, even if you won’t be gigging with this amp. It is great to play no matter what!

    Hi Steve,

I forgot about watching your Mark 5 demo. It sounded great through my puny computer speakers, and as I recall, you were doing a great job wailing through it. I was counting on it sounding good at lower volumes. Thanks for the input. šŸ™‚

    Hi guys,

I picked up the Mark 5 head and Stiletto 2X12 cabinet yesterday at Guitar Center. I haven’t even played through it yet. I am reading over the extremely detailed manual now. I am so excited…weeee!!!! It does not make that large a footprint with the 2X12. I am pleased about that. I will let you know how it sounds soon…weeee!!!!

Very nice! The stiletto is matched well the the MKV

I’d like to give you my settings when I get a chance to snap some pics. It’s an insanely versatile amp!

Thanks Steve. I think the cabinet is actually a Rectifier 2X12, but I don’t see where there is much difference either way. I have a feeling I will be discovering cool sounds out of this thing for a long time to come. It sure is versatile. I guess we’re now irresponsible gear pals, lol…
