    Hey Guys, šŸ™‚

I just bought a new Blackstar HT-40 Amp, and I’m very psyched about it! šŸ˜€

    I’ve been wanting to get a “tweener-amp” …an amp “between” my practice-amp (IE: Fender G-DEC 30) and my “full-rack-of-doom” (IE: H&K Access Preamp–>Rocktron Replifex–>H&K VS-250 EL84-equipped Tube Power-Amp–>Marshall 1960A 4×12″) setup. šŸ˜‰

The Blackstar is AWESOME! šŸ˜Ž I really love how versatile this amp is with the different mode switches (which change the preamp & tone-stack characteristics) for both the clean and overdrive channels. The clean-channel ranges from Fender-ish clean-headroom to Vox-like jangle & crunch! It also features Blackstar’s proprietary ISF feature, which (on the overdrive-channel) allows the user to go from a UK-type voicing (think Marshall) to a US-type voicing (think Mesa) and anywhere blended in-between. This is NOT a “hype-feature,” as you can really hear the difference as you rotate the ISF-knob!

BTW, I also just recently purchased a BOSS GT-10 floor-based multi-effects unit, and my plan is to have the all-in-one streamlined BOSS GT-10 both controlling my channel-switching on the Blackstar and providing all of my time-domain and modulation-based effects (I don’t think I’ll be using the GT-10’s extensive modeling options, since I love the sound and feel of the real Blackstar amp-tones! That said, I will test the GT-10’s modeling, but I’d be shocked if it outperforms the modeling amp that I’m planning on eventually buying which is the Fractal Audio Axe-FX Ultra – which I have tried/demo-ed! – YEAH BABY!!!)

I have no digital-camera, but if your interested in seeing this cool little amp in action, Blackstar has plenty of visibilty on the internet and of course on YouTube!

…Then again, maybe I’ll try to borrow a vid-camera and post some gear-demos….Don’t hold your breath though – LOL! šŸ˜®

    Hey Richard, šŸ™‚

That’s a cool little amp bro! Down at the store where I teach (and where I bought my Blackstar HT-40!) we carry those HT-5’s – in combo-model, and those little things sound HUGE! Great tone! I was thinking about getting one just for recording and teaching, but I don’t really need it, ya know! šŸ˜‰

I’m sure you’ll get some “ripping-tones” from that HT-5, and I can only imagine how HUGE of a tone your gonna get out of that amp once you match it up to the right impulse-response/cab-model… Best-of-luck (though I doubt you’ll need it!!!) šŸ˜‰

Bill man, I tried it out last night!
I’m utterly awestruck by the quality and realism of this stuff, truly exceptional!
Bought Recabinet for the impulses, which were on sale now dirt cheap, and they have
hundreds of impulses. I mean just imagine; two modern and one vintage sound bank,
each with between 5-10 different cabs. Each cabs miced up with different mics, and each mic
with 10-30 different miced positions! The variations as endless (well, at least there are over 2000 different impulses to choose from šŸ™‚ ). And, being able to combine them two at a time in stereo
makes for an incredibly realistic sound, bounds and leaps better than any other simulation software I have tried. Love having a real amp to fiddle with two, and pedals, instead of software parameters.

I’m recording a small pedal demo for my Japanese pedal sponsor that will be this week, I’ll post the video in the forum for you guys. I’ll probably use a greenback or similar vintage cab going clean on the HT5, with his Leqtique – MAD pedal.

    Hey Bill,

Congrats on the new Amp. Post some videos soon.

My next purchase is a fight between getting a Mic and preamp for acoustic guitar recording v/s a MIDI foot controller.

    Cheers!
    Rohan
