    Apocalypto

Pretty brutal movie, but what an amazing story! It’s basically about Mayan Indians and how one in particular got separated from his family. The whole movie is about how he goes through leaps and bounds to get his family back. Really gorgeous movie too as most of it was filmed in deep Mexican jungles.

Not one I’d watch over and over, but it’s an excellent movie to check out.

    There Will Be Blood

Didn’t like it. Very well made and Daniel Day-Lewis was an excellent actor in it, but the story was way too depressing and disturbing for my tastes.

    District 9

Really heavy and amazing film. The language and violence was excessive, but this is a sci-fi movie with TONS of depth. Really makes you think. I was very surprised how emotionally heavy the movie turned out to be. It also had killer CGI, and I heard they made the film on only a 30 million dollar budget. When you watch it you’d think they spent way more.

Another cool thing is apparently the director and lead actor are completely new to the major film scene. Some great new talent.

If you have a strong stomach, I’d recommend seeing this film at least once. You won’t easily forget it.

Wow! I just let my 15 year old son see that the other day. He said it was an awesome story but to bloody violent. I thought he was simply exaggerating. Oooops!

The most recent movie I watched was Dazed and Confused. This is one of my all time favorite movies even though I didn’t grow up in the seventies. Basically, the plot is a bunch of teenagers having the time of their life during their summer vacation. This movie always makes me feel good whenever I watch it. The movie features a great soundtrack as well.

Amazing film. There were some things that bugged me about it, but overall it was a totally enjoyable, groundbreaking movie. The visuals are INSANE! Definitely see this movie in the theater if you can, preferably in 3D.

Watched Sherlock Holmes a few nights ago.. I’d rate it 6.5/10 — worth watching

Saw 2012 a few weeks back, I quite enjoyed it actually! Some of the effects were just amazing! The whole thing’s a bit far out, but hey, I’d watch it again šŸ™‚ 7/10

    The Book of Eli

This movie actually surprised me. It had an awesome message that I didn’t expect, especially from hollywood.

Some of the movie I found to be a little slow and indulgent, but other than that it was pretty good. I think it’s the type of movie that I’d like more the second time. The twists at the end actually made me like the movie a lot more. I remember throughout a lot of it I was thinking “eh this is okay”, but when I found out certain things at the end, it made me appreciate the rest of the movie a lot more.

    Surveillance

Filmy by director David Lynch’s daughter, Jennifer Lynch. Was a pretty good movie with a twist I didn’t see coming. Had the strange David Lynchesque feel too it and I am pretty sure he produced it. I’d watch it again.

Watched The Truman Show with Jim Carrey. Such a cool and unique film. Carrey is super talented. He’s obviously great at comedy but he’s also a great drama actor.

Seen Avatar in 3D a week back. Really enjoyed it. Superb visual effects, good storyline. Acting was so-so.

I entered the theater not expecting much. This was due to what friends/media kept saying, that though the visuals are good, the story is not that great. But I loved the story! Also the promos which used to appear on TV made the Na’vi characters look kinda fake and comic. But wow, was I blown away when I saw them on the big screen!

The sequel has been confirmed. Hope they don’t take a lot of time for it!

    The Road,pretty good film!

Watched The Boondock Saints 2 last night. Loved the original but I didn’t enjoy it at all. Gilberts enthusiasm is definately influential in his awesome teaching technique. Us guitar teachers could learn ALOT just from watching his DVDs and noting his teaching style.
