was given the privilege to both test and help design the ultimate brass block for a jem7vw and the Ibanez prestige guitars with floyd rose designed edge pro tremolo’s.
The FACT that these blocks add sustain and tone addition has been well known for a long time see last review here
As you may have seen by the vid clip or the pic below, the original block is a die cast waste of space and tone sucker .
KGC SAY’S THIS
“KGC’s blocks are each specially designed to enhance tone, sustain and resonance to the fullest. The particular alloy of brass we have chosen to use not only helps enhance tone, sustain and resonance – but also is capable of actually filtering out undesirable harmonic content – giving you a truer note than other blocks out there. All of KGC’s blocks are precision engineered and machined by hand, one at a time. Each is manufactured to be a direct, drop-in replacement and a player will never have to do any permanent modifications to their guitar to make one of our blocks or bridges function properly.
Every surface of our components is finished beautifully. Whether it be the mirror-polished bottom side of every trem block, the brushed finish sides or the chrome-plated claw – you can guarantee that you will want to show this stuff off to everyone. It is jewelry for your guitar! There are also many added functionality properties that we have added to our blocks that really takes them far and beyond what any other manufacturer is offering… Polished brass spring retainer covers for the Ibanez and Floyd Rose style blocks, KGC’s proprietary trem arm Flop Stop system for Strat style, extra-long stainless mounting screws provided with each block (up to $16 extra elsewhere). KGC also offers a choice in thickness on most models of our Strat Style and Floyd blocks – nobody else has the mass of KGC trem blocks.
Sandy and I (Rick) take great pride in our business. We stand behind our products 100% and are ALWAYS there for our customers – no matter what. We feel that with the highest quality products and the most personal and friendly service out there – that we can build a very successful business in time. Serious guitar players generally want the products that truly are of the highest quality and aesthetic standards. Each product we manufacture is held to these high standards with the educated player in mind. If you know quality when you see it – how can you not go with KGC? There is nothing else comparable.”
SO WHATS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THIS AND THE LAST ONE ?
1 Easier string insertion without cutting ball end
2 Extra 1 and a 1/2 fret to the already 4 fret upward motion (great for Vai emulators who need that extra bit)
ARE THEY HARD TO INSTALL?
NO. They are very very easy , 1. take the strings off , 2 springs and trem out 3. the trem bridges out (marking where they were with a shape pen 4 replace the old with the new block and put it back together) not rocket science at all .
WHY IS THIS BETTER THAN OTHER BLOCKS?
The block is better as it gives fuller trem motion in the tight cavity, its a better brass than some , its the alloy plus the extra workmanship , engraving , and the new mods plus don’t forget these are the ONLY brass upgrade blocks with the spring retainer (thats the shiny top the clamps the springs in like the original blocks do)
