I wake up this morning to find that my grandmother (whom I have lived with my entire life) has just been fired from her job of 30 years at BAX Global.

We both knew it was coming but not THIS soon.

It was not because of anything she did. It was because of this merger between her company and a partner company based in Germany. But she wasn’t the only one to get fired though.

2 of the part time girl who were doing the same things as she was were also fired as well as the shipping manager, and that guy has 8 kids!

But still, this is really scary. Going from making over $50,000 a year to now nothing is not something you want to experiance.

And she got fired at a right opportune time where we have all these bills to pay. She even said that she now has to find a job where she was making almost as much as she was before if we are going to keep living in this house.

This is all like some bad dream. I really don’t know what to do. As soon as she told me she was fired she started crying and said “What are we going to do?!” And I almost started crying as well because I really did not have an answer.

    Thank you for listening/reading.

    Rob,

I’m very sorry to hear this bro. šŸ™ My prayers are definitely with you guys.

Does that company at least offer some type of severance pay by chance?

They do, thank god. It’s small but it will have to do for now. They are giving her 2 months severance pay, as well as the accumulated vacation time she had left, which was about 200 hours. She also applied for unemployment as well, which is only $300 a week.

She’s trying so hard no to dip into her 401k if she doesn’t have to. She got phone calls from 2 people she used to work for, and they said if she can hang in there for a few months, they would probably have a job for her.

But things are going to have to really be stretched. Thank goodness I have no medical insurance to worry about paying.

Man, well best of luck with everything Rob. Hopefully a job can work out with one of her ex co-workers in a few months.
