Most people just call me Dave. I’m from Atlanta, GA and travel up to 95% of the year with my job.

I’m an electrical engineer by profession and I’ve picked up and put down the guitar too many times. I love what you guys do here. Time has never permitted me to dedicate the time I would like to be the guitarist I’d love to be. My travel schedule made it difficult to learn while on the road. This idea of online lessons is wonderful and a blessing. Thanks for taking the time to put this together to teach an old dog some new tricks.

Pretty much everything really. I grew up listening to Metallica, Megadeth and Anthrax for the most part, Godsmack more recently, but I listen to and want to play everything from Zeppelin to Dream Theater, Redemption with Bach and Mozart thrown into the mix :). I currently play an Ibanez SA series electric with a Guild GAD 40C Acoustic. I amp my Ibanez through a V-Amp 2 with headphones, amps are just to big to travel with. I’m a tech head so I’m trying to learn the theory of electric guitars from understanding coil theory for pick ups to amplifier choices and technology.

    Hey Dave!

As it happens, my brother Is an electrical engineer. Your post reminds me of him a bit. As busy as life will permit, yet still wanting to do more (the guitar being one thing)

The great thing about guitar though, is that you can play it anywhere any time. Its not like you absolutely have to be at X place at X time to practice. Just grab it out of the back seat when your on a lunch break or have 10 minutes to spare…. At least that’s what I try tell my brother :p

I hope you enjoy yourself here at IG. Keep us posted on your progress.

    Mike.
