    Hi guys,
did a short clinic today at a local metal festival.
I’ve uploaded a excerpt from this clinic, where i discuss developing and soloing over scale chord voicings in modern metal fusion
(ala Meshuggah). The vid is in Swedish, but I added a short resume in the beginning so you’ll know what I’m doing.
    Gear for today was:
PRS 513 –> Boogie Studio Pre –> Macbook Pro and Apogee –> Redwirez cabinet impuls responses (Boogie w. V30’s/SM57 Cap Edge -1).
Everything went out through a pretty low-end PA-system but what the heck, the kids liked it, that’s all that matters!

i expect an IG tutorial on this! or is there already one? Epic playing

    Thanks for watching Steve!
And, as for tutorials, YES and no. There IS one for the concept of scale voicings in it self: https://www.infiniteguitar.com/guitar-lesson-tutorial.php?tutorial=196
And some more on how to train and acquire an ear for this kind of outside/atonal playing: https://www.infiniteguitar.com/guitar-lesson-tutorial.php?tutorial=218
and this one as well: https://www.infiniteguitar.com/guitar-lesson-tutorial.php?tutorial=239

There is NOT however, a tutorial where I improvise in this genre, with this concept. Only seeing this stuff transcribed would surely be benefitial, but as you know I always opt to break things down into the bare essentials of the concept, and then let the actual learning process take place within the musical context of each individual student. Meshuggah is pretty much “one too loud” for most people, this concept is much easier to handle listening-wise through the musical context of say guys like Holdsworth or even Tom Quayle.

That’s awesome Richard! Some sweet ideas there. And hey I actually understood a few words. šŸ™‚ I heard “voicings” and “dissonance” in English hehe.

Yes, I second the notion that this should be your next tutorial. Please:)

I guess I could do a separate tutorial on Metal-fusion alone, perhaps it is enough of a side step from the other tutorials to merit that.
Might not my next one though, have a gear-related tutorial planned first.
