Fell in love (again) with my Yamaha AES800

Hadn’t played this guitar for ages, and it’s been at my parents’ house for a long, long time. I visited them this weekend and decided to bring the guitar with me home, as it’s simply too good to be overlooked. It has the lowest action I have ever seen on a guitar and still has no fret buzzing. You could literally stare down the strings to the frets. Very play-able.

Here’s a picture of the guitar:

    And then some dull improvisation:

I’m not all too sure of the chord changes in this backing track (roto jam), so some passages are not so good, while the rest is even worse :p And I’m still trying to get a good hold of playing “outside” (which I geuss I’m not doing too much in this video), but I hope some of it is still enjoyable.

Hey welcome back Ben! Haven’t seen you around in a while. Nice jam there! And cool looking guitar too. Good choice in bringing it back home. šŸ™‚

    Hey Sean!

Thanks for the welcoming back. I’ve been “away” from the site for quite some time, yes. There seems to have been some major improvements to the site here and there’re now a lot more lessons than last time I checked.

It really is a cool guitar, despite the fact that it’s a “cheap”-ish Yamaha. I don’t have all that much room for guitars in my new apartment, but I’m looking into putting them onto the wall. Will bring my bass back some time too. I can’t remember if I’ve shown you guys a picture of that, but come the time I will do it.

As mentioned… this guitar has UNBELIEVABLY low action. You could literally just blow the frets to the fretboard. It’s definetaly a step “up”/(down ;)) from the guitar I’ve been using for the past year and the one before that as well.

Thanks! It’s an AES800, though I can’t really find that exact model anywhere on Yamaha’s website.

I know it’s not quite up there with some of the stuff you guys play, but I hope to get a little better at the fusion-ish side of guitar playing.

Talking about weird guitars…i have a Yamaha Sgv300. Unusual from top to bottom.
