    Satch!

MJ’s death truly is shocking. The guy had serious issues, but no one can deny he also had a great talent. Only 50 years old too. And what’s up with all the other deaths this week? Billy Mays just died at 50 yesterday. Ed McMahon. Farrah Fawcett. It’s been a bad week.

I can’t tell you how shocked and upset I was when I found out. I grew up listening to his music particularly ‘Off the Wall’, ‘Thriller’ and ‘Bad’ – ‘Thriller’ being an album that would be in my top 10 fav albums and one that I have listened to regularly since it came out. The dance sequence in ‘Thriller’ still gives me goosebumps every time.
Yeah, it’s certainly been a strange week.

Recently saw this video from 1983. Such a great talent.

Very sad indeed .. We often hear about people that are stars at a very young age and all the problems they have in their adult lives. I am sure this was magnified greatly in MJs case as he was as big as Elvis. He was a true pioneer for so many things that are common place now .. music videos, the whole boy band style of pop, and even paved the way for rap to become a mainstream genre. As good as ‘Thriller’ and ‘Bad’ are, I really feel like ‘Off the Wall’ was his true masterpiece. Rest is peace man.

I know this may seem callous but I was not at all surprised or shocked by his death.
I suppose he was talented (didn’t like any of his music) but his lifestyle, IMHO, was eventually going to
catch up with him. I feel badly that he died but no more so than when I hear of anyone else’s untimely
death ie, I do not differentiate between anyone’s untimely death: they are all equally sad.
