Great job TJ! A bit choppy in some parts, but there were some cool ideas in there too. I love how you record your improvs on youtube man. You should make a video guitar blog thread for tjchep. šŸ™‚

    Guitar blog eh..

That could possibly be a good Idea. haha.

But @ improvs on youtube. I don’t like covers much. :). Probably should start writing some material and then posting it on the tube. Maybe it would have a better turn out. :p.

Overall good timing, lack of intonation at bits, and as commented vibrato was a bit to hysterical for the music. Your phrasing weren’t very vocal for such a backing.

I suggest you practice improvising and sing everything you play, and let you voice guide your phrasing. You will find that your playing will be more coherent, melodic and suit the backing better. Also think of vibrato as a singer would.

Good singers don’t make vibrato on every note when they land on it, they hold the note in perfect pitch, and gradually let the vibrato grow. this makes for some very vocal playing, which would be your best choice for such a backing.

ANother suggestion as for players would be Mark Knopfler. Learn for example “brothers in arms” by heart, and thenI mean especially the dynamics in his phrasing and use of vibrato (you will have to play with your fingers to nail the dynamics though, can’t be done with pick alone).
