    Hello All, šŸ™‚

Well, I still haven’t solved my lack of video-camera-equipment, but I did just make an “audio-only” recording of me playing along to Richard Lundmark’s backing-track from his “Making a Song Tutorial!” I told Richard at the time he released that tutorial that I really loved the tune (even though he admitted that it wasn’t done yet.) For those not familiar with it, it’s an unnamed tune (Richard referred to it as “sort of John Mayer-ish” without lyrics/vocals – for now.) I told Richard that I thought this tune could eventually have some serious commercial/crossover appeal! Anyways, since I couldn’t get Richard’s neat guitar-melody out of my head, I did what needed to be done…I recorded a version of it myself (along with his provided backing-track from the tutorial.) šŸ˜Ž

If you watch Richard’s original tutorial (which I highly recommend for two reasons: 1.) You’ll learn about his approach to “song-development” and “guitar-arranging” – BRILLIANT! and 2.) You’ll hear a more accomplished, more relaxed, and confident musician playing a tune he himself created (instead of me! – LOL! :o)

You’ll probably notice that I played the two main-melody sections pretty much verbatim, without variation. However, for the solo-section (I really liked Richard’s solo too!) I played the first say 70% of the solo note-for-note like Richard, then I split-off into “my own thing” near the end! šŸ˜‰

BTW, this track was recorded in two passes: 1.) from beginning to the solo-section and 2.) from the solo to the end.

    Equipment used for this track:

2007 Olympic White Fender American Series Stratocaster, retrofitted with Fender Custom Shop (SRV-approved!) “Texas-Special” single-coil pickups. The entire track was played on the neck-pickup only. (BTW, I’m loving this guitar lately for non high-gain applications!) šŸ˜Ž

Line6 POD-XT Live (using the Matchless DC-30 amp-model – approx. 50%-gain; some tape-delay; and a bit of compression.) The reverb was added later on, inside the digital-recorder, during mixdown.

The guitar’s pre-amped & effected signal was then piped (in stereo) onto tracks 3 & 4 of my BOSS Micro-BR digital 4-track recorder. (BTW, I had already recorded Richard’s backing-track in stereo onto tracks 1 & 2.) This allowed me to balance the levels, EQ, etc, of the backing-track and the stereo guitar-track which I was recording later on during mixdown. I then mixed the 4-tracks down to 2-track stereo within the BOSS Micro-BR using it’s onboard mastering-tools. (Nothing fancy here, just a bit of EQ and compression – and that overall reverb/environment I alluded to earlier.) Once the mix was created in the form of a stereo .mp3-file, I was then able to transfer it (via USB) to my laptop directly, from which I created the public file-hosting link shown below:

I’d really appreciate any feedback you guys might have. Thanks so much! šŸ˜‰

Thanks to Richard Lundmark (of course!) and to all the other instructors and members of Infinite Guitar! šŸ˜Ž

    Happy Holidays Everyone! šŸ˜Ž

    Hey Bill,

Im following your lead with writing in paragraphs because it looks so good haha. I really enjoyed your song, the tone, the mix, the playing, everything! I especially liked the licks at the end. Very tasty and fitting for the song.

    Once again, excellent job

    Yo Ryan, šŸ™‚

Thanks man! I appreciate the compliments, and thanks again for that “E Major Etude #1” transcription. It looks GREAT! I think I like the .gp5 layout even more than the .pdf when I printed them out! BTW, I’ll try to be less verbose with my replies, as you’ve probably noticed by now, I get carried away sometimes – LOL! šŸ˜® šŸ˜‰
