I am really into metal and have been working my way through Chris Feener’s Djent series and was curious what scale is used for playing Djent?

Interesting question! I imagine there’s a lot of harmonic minor and variations of it, but to be honest I hear all kinds of scales in djent, from minor all the way to the major spectrum. I think it’s a lot more about the percussive elements of the style of playing than the scales being used. šŸ™‚

Try the Phrygian dominant/ Phrygian minor, Wholetone-Halftone , Egyptian, Ethiopian minor, and Hirojoshi scales too. Once you’ve learned to own the common picking patterns and polyrhythms involved, you can apply them to almost any scale if it tickles your fancy.
