Welcome to the "Picking Inside the Strings" tutorial!

First thing you'll want to do is watch the video and notice the difference between picking "inside" the strings and picking "outside" the strings. You can also see the difference from the first 2 tab exercises below.

It's also important to note that an alternate picking motion is being used. We will be using alternate picking exclusively in this tutorial.

Picking from the inside of the strings is usually a little more difficult than picking from the outside. Picking on the outside is easier because you have much more momentum from the actual picking movement. However, picking from the inside requires you to have more control in your picking movement. With that said, it is essential for a guitarist to be comfortable with both picking options.

So play the below exercises, and make sure you have a clear definition of what it means to pick outside, and what it means to pick inside.
