Hybrid-Sweep Technique - Concept

Steve Hubbard 107 lessons

Greetings!

In this lesson, we will combine both hybrid and sweep picking to play an arpeggio sequence that for the most part follows the degrees of a C Major scale!

This combination of hybrid and sweep picking can easily be applied to a number of shapes and arpeggios. The main technique or detail that I would like to highlight is the grouping of two down strokes, with an upstroke from the second finger on my picking hand. This is an absolute staple in my playing, and can easily be found within a number of the licks I have hosted on IG. The down strokes can either be picked individually, or swept – for me, it really depends on the lick, speed, and even the tone that I’m going for.

Hope you enjoy.
