Jazz Blues with Walking Bass Line: Playthrough

Advanced Chords Jazz
Mike Salow 210 lessons

Onto the real thing!

Make sure that all bass notes are played with the thumb or pick.

The rest of the chord tones should be played with fingers 1, 2, and 3. If using a pick you'd use fingers 2, 3, and 4.

Also keep in mind that the eight notes are swung so the up beats will happen a little quicker than "straight" time.

As you can see our chords do not have to land on a down beat like our bass line.

This helps to make it sound like to voices/instruments rather than one.

I recommend that you take the time to learn the bass line and comping separately and then work them in together slowly.

Have fun!
