Now let's discuss they actual convenience of the two string symmetrical shape when we are learning where are half steps exist within a key.

You may have to refer back to the tab so I've included it again at the bottom. 

As you can see the half steps that occur on the lower E and A strings then reoccur up an octave on the D and G strings and then once again up another octave on the B and high E strings.

Pay attention to how the 2nd scale example uses symmetry and try to apply that across the fret board using different shapes.
