Welcome Guitar Athletes!

In this month’s tutorial we’ll be looking a song transcript from my 2004 FretDance album, called The March. We won’t be going into detail with every single overlay and harmonized lead in this song, but rather focusing on the main themes and riffs of the tune. We’ll be looking at things such as 2-handed muting techniques, heavy 7-string riffage, and string skipping melodies as well as slap harmonics.

I urge you to listen to the original recording of this tune, which can be found in the player in my Instructor Profile here at IG. That will give you a sense of what the tune really sounds like, since the recording of this lesson has some short comings when it comes to the recording of the guitar sound, in comparison with the isolated studio environment in which the album was created. This is ESPECIALLY true for the slap harmonics section before the sweeping and solo.

So, after checking out the performance, head into Event no.1 of this Guitar Triathlon!
