Eluding the Mastermind - Exercise 1

The intro riff to this song is mainly comprised of sixteenth notes. Most of the notes will be palm muted as well. However, study the tablature closely to catch which notes aren't supposed to be palm muted.

When you look at the tab, you'll notice a few "Harm" markings. Whenever you see those markings, it means we'll be playing the indicated note as a natural harmonic. In the video above, you can see how my ring finger is frequently playing the harmonic on the 5th fret of the 6th string. Make sure your finger barely touches the string over the 5th fret so the harmonic rings out nice and clearly.

Also be mindful of the rests that we'll be encountering toward the end of the measures. Get the rests sounding tight and completely silent.

Lastly, when we get to bar 5, that's when the riff gets a little more steady as the full band comes in. You'll be adding in a few extra notes on the 4th beat as well as another harmonic on the 5th fret.
