In the first example, we have a lick that uses pull-offs, and falls into the E minor blues pentatonic box.

This personally reminds me of a Joe Satriani lick that I have heard on one or more of his albums. The point of giving teaching this lick, is so that you can play around with accents. Try some different combinations and patterns, using both soft, and hard pick strokes.

Another thing to note, is that the first note starts on an 'off' beat. Check out the Demonstration video, for a better idea of how to apply this over a backing!
